National Bingo Association launched a £3.8 million campaign

The UK’s National Bingo Association has launched a £3.8 million advertising campaign for its new 'Big N' game.

Typically traditional in its approach a large bingo dabber leaving a mark on different types of items to signify the value of the jackpot will be the ad mechanic.  The huge budget activity will be deployed on television, in the press, assorted magazines and will also have an online bingo application.

The TV campaign is to take place on ITV1, Channel 4, Five and digital channels.

The most innovative part of the campaign is the ‘bingo bus stops’ to be used in Manchester and Glasgow in which screens will display live updates on the latest jackpot amount.

Henry Dalglish,who works for the National Bingo Association said: "The new Gambling Act has enabled National Bingo Game Association to offer a totally new game that will compete with the lottery.

"The scale of this launch reflects the importance of the bingo industry of The Big ‘N. The campaign sees a number of media firsts and creativity that will create a real buzz about The Big ‘N."

The National Bingo Association does not appear to offer bingo online or run any online bingo halls so it seems a big opportunity to generate income from this campaign may have been missed.

The Big N advert represents the first major bingo-related advertising effort to take advantage of the UK’s newly relaxed gambling laws.

THE BIG’N – HOW TO PLAY

THE BIG’N is an add-on game to the National Bingo Game. It offers three separate jackpots: Platinum, Gold and Silver, Platinum being the highest. To win one of the jackpots a player must win the National prize on the National Bingo Game and have the corresponding number of BIG’N numbers to claim a jackpot:

* Platinum jackpot – 8 or more BIG’N numbers
* Gold jackpot – 7 BIG’N numbers
* Silver jackpot – 6 BIG’N numbers

A player winning the National Bingo Game and marking 6 or more BIG ‘N numbers on their winning ticket grid would win the club house prize, the National Prize and The BIG‘N jackpot that corresponds to the number of BIG ‘N numbers successfully marked off.

Terms and Conditions:

Players must be over 18 and must be present in a participating bingo club for the playing of the games.  Entry to a club (which is not guaranteed) may be subject to a charge. To win a Big‘N jackpot players must be playing on a National Bingo Game ticket that has been validated.  If the National Bingo Game is won in 26 numbers of less, not all (if any) of the jackpots may be available.  Full terms and conditions apply.  Please see Players’ Rules in club or visit www.nationalbingo.co.uk.

Comment:  The BIG'N must be the worst gamble ever. Of the 10 BIG'N numbers called last week there were 4 between 80 & 90 that means the players can only get 6, 7 or 8 out of 9 BIG'N numbers.
